Perhaps you're facing the heartache of having to surrender your pets(s) to a rescue because your landlord operates a No Pets policy. Or maybe you'd love to have a pet in your life, but your rental agreements states No Pets.
The fact that you don’t own your own home shouldn’t stop you from being able to adopt a pet*
Looking for a pet friendly rental? – AdvoCATS works with you to put together documents that demonstrate you’re a responsible pet owner, which you can then use to support any rental applications.
Already in a property and want to adopt a pet? – We can challenge No Pets clauses, advise the best course of action and negotiate on your behalf.
What we can do for you:
*Unless the property you’re looking to rent has a head/superior lease. This mainly applies to leasehold properties (most often flats/apartments), and covers the whole building. Both tenants and homeowners are bound by its terms, and if it states No Pets, then it’s very rarely challengeable. The existence of such a term is likely to be the main reason a landlord can refuse pets under the forthcoming Renters Rights legislation.
Advocats were absolutely amazing and such a blessing to us during a very stressful time! Jen couldn’t have been more lovely or accommodating and furnished us with knowledge that led us to get a wonderful rental accommodation! Thank you so much
We’re so thankful AdvoCATS exists, we couldn’t have done this without you! We needed (this flat) more than anything so (permission for the cats) is the best news in the world! AdvoCATS ROCKS!!!!!!!!!
On the viewing day, another family made an offer on the house. They were rejected and we were chosen instead – the landlady was very impressed with extra paperwork AdvoCATS helped me to create! There’s no doubt in my mind that AdvoCATS played vital role in our success with this house, without you I might have had to say goodbye to my babies. I don’t know how to thank you enough!
Heads for Tails! is our ongoing umbrella campaign calling for a simple change in the law to make renting with pets easier and fairer for both landlords AND tenants.
Despite unprecedented support from both the PRS and the animal welfare world, plus cross-party political support, the Labour government, although initially receptive, have decided against allowing landlords to ask for pet damage insurance.
